Types of visas

For a trip to the Dominican Republic, you can request:

Visa-free entry

To visit the Dominican Republic without a visa at the border, the following documents will be required:

  • foreign passport valid for the entire stay;
  • return ticket;
  • tourist card – it is purchased at the entrance for 10 USD or in advance at the Consulate for 15 USD. The prices on the page are for October 2022;
  • migration card – forms are handed out on the plane, you need to fill in block letters, Latin.

To extend your stay in the Dominican Republic for 90 days, you must contact the nearest police station and pay a fee – 55 USD.

Applying for a visa yourself

Documents can either be submitted personally to the consulate, or use the services of travel agencies, purchasing a tour from them with paperwork included (travel agency rates are set independently).

Most often, the tour lasts less than 30 days, so for almost everyone who travels through a travel agency, visa-free entry is relevant.

A visit to the consulate should be planned for a period of 3 to 1 month before the trip, since it takes 30 days to process a visa. You need to have a full package of documents with you, as well as a consular fee in cash in dollars. It is paid when submitting papers directly at the consulate. The validity of the visa is 60 days, regardless of the number of entries.

All papers, except for the passport, must be translated into Spanish and certified by the seal and signature of the licensed bureau. If you wish, you can order a service at the embassy, ​​one document costs 10 USD.

To obtain a multiple-entry visa, you must write a letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic in free form with a request to allow the issuance of this document. It is important to indicate the reason for the request, duration of stay, full name, passport number, date and signature. The letter must be written in Spanish or in Russian with a legal translation. Additionally, it is required to provide air tickets and hotel reservations for all trips. The validity of a passport for obtaining a multiple-entry visa is at least 1 year.

If the purpose of the visit is study, then in addition to the above documents, a letter of application for a student visa, an invitation from a university, a medical certificate, confirmation of a good criminal record, a letter of guarantee and a declaration of the guarantor, notarized in the Dominican Republic in the presence of two witnesses and legalized in the Office of the Prosecutor General’s Office, are required countries.

Visa processing for children

A visa for minors is placed in their separate passport. You must provide all of the above documents, as well as a copy of your birth certificate.

If the child is traveling with mom or dad, a notarized permission from the other parent is required for the child to travel. If you are planning a vacation with third parties (grandparents, teachers, group leaders, etc.), you need to prepare permission to leave from both parents.

Photo Requirements

The photo for a visa must be of high quality, clear, without blots, taken no earlier than six months ago. Dimensions: 4 x 5 cm, plain background, white. The face occupies about 80% of the frame, the shoulders, neck and crown of the head should be clearly visible. It is necessary that a person looks directly into the camera, skin tone, eye and hair color correspond to reality. No other persons or objects may be present in the picture. Consular fee

The consular fee for a single entry tourist visa is 70 USD, for a multiple one – 80 USD. In case of refusal, the money is not returned.

A student visa costs 90 USD, a work visa is 125 USD or 150 USD (depending on the speed of processing), a business visa is 125 USD.

For visa-free entry for up to 30 days, you only need to pay 10 USD at the border.

The consulate takes 30 days for consideration, but sometimes the time can be increased, so documents should be submitted in advance. Some types of visas, for example, a work visa, can be issued in a week.

Deadlines are counted from the date following the day of submission of papers.

Upon receipt of a standard tourist visa, a person has the right to stay in the Dominican Republic for 60 days, a one-time extension for the same period is possible.
