Almost 100,000 people live in the Seychelles, most of them in the capital Victoria. They are known as Seychellois. A large part of the islands and especially the coral islands are not populated.

Many of the islands' residents are descendants of slaves and the settlers who came to the islands from France or other French colonies. A few people are originally from China, India or European countries. A colorful mixture of peoples shapes the islands.
