Instagram Remains Off the Air for Twelve Hours (and Counting)

All Instagram services, the popular system for sending photos with special filters, are down for at least twelve hours. Since the night of Friday (29) users are questioning through social networks what is happening with the service, which was recently bought by Facebook for nothing symbolic value of one billion dollars.

Our site tried to contact the Instagram, but got no comment on the failure that affects the service for at least twelve hours. None of Instagram applications, either on Android or iOS, you can send images taken with the camera phone and later modified with special filters that are the trademark application.

It is suspected that a storm in the US state of Virginia has affected the Amazon AWS, hosting service retail giant cloud online. As far as we know, Instagram uses Amazon ‘sAWS technologies to store images at a very competitive cost. This is the same reason pointed to the disruption of Pinterest and Netflix services also in the early hours of Saturday. In 2011 a failure hit the servers Amazon AWS. There are no official estimates of when Instagram will function.

We tried to contact with the Amazon AWS in the United States to learn more details about what happened to the company’s facilities in Virginia. Once we have this information we shall update this article.

Upgrade to 14h22: Some users start to report the return of Instagram through social networks. Here in the newsroom we tested with the application and, in fact, returned to upload new images made by contacts. Uploading photos also worked, although it is slow and there are difficulties to comment on the photos or share them with others. Instagram site returned to the air showing an error message provided by the service.
