Guides to Ohio

Ohio can make a lot of notable claims. For one thing, the names of the three biggest cities in Ohio begin with the letter C: Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Columbus. Northeast Ohio has a larger Amish population than any other state. It's produced more astronauts-21 of 'em, including John Glenn, Neil Armstrong, and Judith Resnick-than any other, and seven U.S. presidents (Grant, Hayes, Garfield, Harrison, McKinley, Taft, and Harding). Many inventors, including the Wright Brothers (the airplane guys) and B.F. Goodrich (the tire guy), hailed from Ohio.

Yes, yes these are fun facts, you say, but Ohio's not exactly a top vacation destination, right? Wrong! Three national halls of fame are located here: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is in Cleveland; the Pro Football Hall of Fame is in Canton; and the Inventor's Hall of Fame is in Akron. Ohio is also big on thrill rides. Could there be a connection between the number of astronauts and the number of roller coasters in this state? Rides with ominous names like Raptor, Flight of Fear, and Mean Streak push the G force envelope at three gargantuan amusement parks. From Heini's Cheese Chalet in Amish Country, to sailing between the Lake Erie islands, to visiting the International Women's Air and Space Museum in Centerville, Ohio is packed with famous folks, friendly people, historical sites, and just plain fun stuff to do.
